Rev. Octavio Munoz Capetillo has been removed as pastor of St. Pancratius Church on Chicago’s Southwest Side after materials were found on a computer in his possession and CPD has confirmed a criminal investigation is ongoing in the matter. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]


NATIONAL NEWS

The murder spike in Baltimore with 11 people shot over this past weekend has led to the formation of an Anti-Crime partnership with five federal agencies that will embed their special agents with city homicide detectives. The homicide rate in Baltimore began to skyrocket in May, when the city saw 42 homicides in a single month while some are calling it the city’s Summer of Freddie Gray. [ABC NEWS]


WORLD NEWS

A criminal investigation has been launched into the collapse of two cranes onto a row of houses and shops in Alphen aan den Rijn in The Hague, Netherlands. The cranes were parked on a floating pontoon and toppled over but no bodies were found in the rubble. [REUTERS]


SPORTS

NFL’s training camp is underway and several players and coaches are making headlines. Jason Pierre-Paul, the one that lost his finger in the fireworks incident is absent from the Giants practice and no word on when he’ll join the team; Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly is getting dissed in the press by lots of former players on how he ran the team; Sam Bradford and the Eagles are in talks for a contract extension; The Bears rookie wide receiver Kevin White is still sidelined with shin injury and has not participated in the team’s five practices so far. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is cool with his star receiver Dez Bryant’s fight with teammate Tyler Patmon over the weekend.Tom Brady and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will appear in person for a court-mandated Deflategate settlement hearing Aug. 12 in NYC. Quinlan III, last year will split itself into three publicly traded companies by the end of 2016. Kristen Stewart on the cover of ELLE UK September issue; Gigi Hadid glams it up for W Magazine’s cover and Emma Watson graced British Vogue. Who will be this year’s Vogue cover star? Kim Kardashian? Ronda Rousey? Beyonce? It will certainly be someone social media heavy for sure.
