• The last original “L” station house at Madison Street and Wabash Avenue will be demolished this week to prepare for construction of the new loop superstation. The station opened on November 8, 1896. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]

• Tullian Tchividjian, who had assumed the role senior pastor amidst controversy at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla within his first six months has resigned due to moral failure. Tchividjian is the grandson of Evangelist Billy Graham. The reason? He and his wife had affairs as their marriage collapsed “As her affair continued, we separated…Sadly and embarrassingly, I subsequently sought comfort in a friend and developed an inappropriate relationship myself.” [NY DAILY NEWS]
•The On The Run Tour feat David Sweat and Richard Matt continues and they’ve been sighted in a burglarized cabin in Owls Head which is just 20 miles or so from Clinton Correctional Facility. [CNN]
WORLD NEWS
• Some celebrate the Summer solstice with a day at the beach, bbq with friends, but at a festival in Yulin, China they celebrate with the dogs. The Yulin dog meat festival marks the summer solstice with the slaughtering of about 10,000 dogs for consumption. Though dog meat is considered a delicacy in some parts of China, the town in south-west China has distanced itself from the fest. [GUARDIAN]
• 31 people were wounded after a Taliban suicide bomber and several gunmen attacked the Afghan parliament and six gunmen were killed after a gun battle lasting nearly two hours. Though they did not get inside the parliament building, concerns over security agencies for not preventing the attack has surfaced. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid did take responsibility stating “We have launched an attack on parliament as there was an important gathering to introduce the country’s defense minister.” [REUTERS]
SPORTS
• Jordan Spieth, who closed with a 69 to finish at 5-under for the tournament, beating Dustin Johnson (70) and Louis Oosthuizen (67) by one shot, won his second major tournament at the US Open yesterday at Chambers Bay. [USA TODAY]
BUSINESS
• Fifth Third Bank announced it will consolidate or sell about 100 of its branches and about 30 other properties, a move that’s expected to save about $60 million a year. [WALL STREET JOURNAL]
ENTERTAINMENT
• The power of Taylor Swift spans more than chart topping music, taking cats out in public, making it cool and an enviable crew of superstar ladies. After her open letter to Apple yesterday condemning their practice of not paying artists during their apple music trial, Apple’s senior vice president of internet services and software Eddy Cue announced the company will pay artists, even during the 90-day free trial period, tweeting “We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. • Condé Nast Video debuted their first short film, Vogue Presents The Minions which will be presented as an extension of the Vogue portfolio with other original films slated for the coming months. “Vogue Presents: The Minions” features interviews with high-profile fashion personalities including Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, Rupert Sanderson, Giles Deacon, Stephen Webster, Alber Elbaz, Stephen Jones and Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman, all of whom discuss the growing influence of The Minions on the fashion industry.
