• LSU football coach Les Miles has suspended four of his football players for off the field conduct. Quarterback Anthony Jennings, defensive back Dwayne Thomas and defensive tackle Maquedius Bain were arrested for breaking into another student’s apartment. Separately defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao, a redshirt freshman from Texas, was arrested for digging through pockets of a victim that had been “been beaten unconscious… then punched the victim’s girlfriend in the face with a closed fist.” A person named Doodaman was involved. • “Free fallin” is not just a song by Tom Petty, it seems to be the direction Tiger Woods’career is currently taking as his performance at the U.S Open saw him shoot 10-over 80 in his opening round where 15-year-old Cole Hammer beat him by by 3 strokes. As the NY Times noted “the utter feebleness and fundamental inability to execute basic shots that made Woods’s performance so mind-numbing, even alarming. Just two months ago, Woods tied for 17th at the Masters and had two rounds in the 60s. A little more than a year ago, he was the world’s top-ranked golfer.” [NY TIMES]

• Toyota’s newly appointed communications chief Julie Hamp, their first senior woman executive, was arrested on suspicion of illegally bringing pain killers into Japan. Reports state that 57 “Oxycodone pills were found in a small parcel labeled “necklaces” that was sent from the United States and addressed to Hamp in Japan.” Bringing Oxy into Japan requires prior approval from the government and it must be carried by the individual, and Hamp could be looking at years in prison if indicted.
