D-Day is here for Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. In contrast to regular voting, caucuses are done in person at a specific time, 7pm, where voters head to a location in their neighborhood, lasting for about 2 hours. Though rough weather may hamper some voter turnout, candidates are expecting good turnout. 11-year-old Allisyn Shelley, who is not legally able to buy cigarettes, sign up for Facebook or vote, will speak for Donald Trump. The selection process is as such: For Republicans, their candidate preferences are presented by a show of hands or by writing out a secret ballot which Microsoft will help tally to prevent a Romney/Santorum issue circa 2012. The Democratic process will have groups of supporters for each candidate (or undecided attendees) sit or stand together in preference groups and a head count of everyone in the room is conducted. If any candidate (or the undecideds) don’t have enough supporters — in most cases, 15 percent of the caucusgoers — the group is ruled “nonviable” its members realign with other groups, and a final count is made and results announced Tuesday night.
