NATIONAL NEWS

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is only seven months into his role as the state’s top lawyer, is expected to surrender after being indicted on criminal charges last week. Paxton faces three felony charges including soliciting clients for investment deals without being registered as a broker which he’s paid a $1,000 fine. The other two charges accuse Paxton of steering investors to give more than $600,000 to a company called Servergy. Speaking of breaking the law, Tremaine Wilbourn who was out on supervised release following a 10-month sentence for bank robbery, shot officer Sean Bolton, 33 during a traffic stop in southeast Memphis and he’s still at large and a warrant for 1st degree murder has been issued for his arrest. WORLD NEWS

A Syrian army fighter jet crashed into a busy marketplace killing least 17 people and injuring many others. Most of the dead were civilians on the ground in the Idlib provincial town that fell to a coalition of Islamist insurgents in May [REUTERS]


SPORTS

• Over the weekend UFC fighter Ronda Rousey proved she is next level beast mode. Over the weekend, she took home her sixth UFC title beating Brazilian challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds capping off the UFC 190 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. [ESPN]

Kaiser Carlile (9), who was running to retrieve a bat near the on-deck circle when the on-deck batter accidentally hit him on the head with a warmup swing during a National Baseball Congress World Series game on Saturday, has died. A GoFundMe site has been started for his family. [WASHINGTON POST]


BUSINESS

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, , is creating a $85.8 million fund to pay workers or families of those stricken by cancer (lymphoma and leukemia) while working at its chip and display factories as a result of prolonged exposure to radiation or dangerous chemicals used in Samsung’s factories. The fund would also pay for research, development of experts and other methods to improve worker safety. [REUTERS]


ENTERTAINMENT

Forgot about Dre? Hardly but it seems the rapper turned business man didn’t forget about his fans either as he announced he’s releasing his first album in 15 years, “Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre” which will drop exclusively on Apple Music Friday and include features from Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Snoop Dogg. At least this album will not be Detox. [NY TIMES]

FASHION

Royal couple Pierre Casiraghi, the son of Princess Caroline of Monaco, grandson of Grace Kelly and Beatrice Borromeo of the aristocratic House of Borromeo celebrated their religious ceremony with a second wedding in Italy’s Lake Maggiore and the bride wore a custom ivory gown by Italian designer Giorgio Armani Privé and changed into another Armani number. The private ceremony with family at the Isolino de San Giovani, Borromeo islands was followed by reception at the Rocca d’Angera islands for about 600 guests.
