Tronc down for what?!?! There’s no sugarcoating it, the new Tribune Publishing re-brand which was revealed yesterday has no initial positives to it. In a statement released following their annual shareholder meeting closed to the press, with 25 people in attendance, board chairman Michael Ferro said “Our rebranding to tronc represents the manner in which we will pool our technology and content resources to execute on our strategy.” The name change, short for Tribune online content, is slated to take effect on June 20. • Five soldiers are dead, three are injured and another four are feared missing after a truck along Owl Creek in Fort Hood overturned. Elsewhere yesterday in Tennessee, a Blue Angels jet pilot died from injuries suffered in a Thunderbird F-16 crash during practice for a weekend air show.

• Four people who were wanted on suspicion of second-degree murder in the May 23 fatal beating of a transgender man at a Vermont homeless encampment, have been arrested in San Diego. The suspects were identified as Erik Averill, Myia Barber, Allison Gee and Jordan Paul.

• Emoji invasion. First it was the regular emojis, then wishes were granted with the addition of taco and varying skin tone emojis. Kim Kardashian recently released updates of her popular Kimoji that reportedly earns her $1 Million/min and now EVERYONE is coming out with emojis. Justin Beiber’s is set to launch today, Steph Curry’s StephMojis released Wednesday became the best-selling paid app in Apple Inc.’s store. If you’re not willing to plunk down $1.99 for them, not to worry your standard emojis will be getting 72 new ones later this month.

• Rose Byrne, Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman, Dakota Fanning, Allison Williams, Hannah Bronfman, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, Jill Kargman, Amandla Stenberg, Lauren Santo Domingo all turned up for the Chanel dinner held at the New York Public Library to celebrate select treasures from NYPL.

FASHION

•  Gucci’s Cruise 2017 collection was presented in London at Westminster Abbey yesterday. The site of many royal ceremonies staged it’s first fashion show with Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele saying “I chose Westminster Abbey because everyone has this idea of London being cool, but for me the history is what’s really cool.”

• Under Armour is getting into the high fashion game with a new men’s and womenswear brand by announcing its first premium line, Under Armour Sportswear (UAS). It will be led by newly named executive creative director, designer Tim Coppens. Coppens’, in 2014, won the CFDA Swarovski Award for menswear and an LVMH Prize nomination.
