Yesterday Pope Francis landed on US soil during his historic visit greeted by the first family and VP Joe Biden. His itinerary for the day will involve a private session with President Obama; Papal parade around the Washington monument and National Mall Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and canonizing 18th century Spanish missionary Friar Junipero Serra. Thursday he will address Congress, wheels up to New York to visit the UN and Ground Zero memorial. [REUTERS]


YOGI BERRA

At the age of 90, Yankees legend, Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra passed away of natural causes, 69 years after his MLB debut in 1946. In 1956, he caught the only perfect game in World Series History.  He was known for his baseball skills and way with words with famous “Yogi-isms” quotes such as “It ain’t over ’til its over” “Baseball is 90% mental. EGYPT PARDONS

Back in August, Amal Clooney, a Human rights lawyer, asked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to overturn the 3 year jail sentence of three al-Jazeera journalists, today the president has announced the pardon of 100 prisoners including said journalists ahead of his attendance at the annual United Nations summit.

MONKEY SELFIE

This is a first, we think… PETA has filed asuit in federal court that the copyright owner of a now famous selfie of Naruto, a macaque monkey, should be the monkey and not the photographer David Slater. PETA wants to administer all proceeds from the photos to benefit the monkey and other crested macaques.
