Shhh don’t tell but we are the unidentified buyers of that record breaking Picasso. Last night Christie’s auction house fetched $179,365,000 for a 1955 Picasso oil painting “Les femmes d’Alger (Version ‘O’)” making it the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. Ten artists’ records were set at the Christie’s special “Looking Forward to the Past” sale netting a total of $705.9 million. The Picasso last auctioned in 1997 for $31.9 million, can you say ROI?!
