• A 56-year-old man was struck and killed by a CTA Red Line train near the Loyola station Monday evening, reports Chicago Tribune. Police are investigating but said the death appears to be a suicide. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]

•Keurig is recalling more than 6.6 million of its hot beverage-brewing machines because it could overheat liquids and burn users. The machine in question is the Keurig Mini Plus brewers with the model number K10 and serial numbers starting with 31. [REUTERS]

• 60 journalists from around the world were killed in 2014 and 44 percent of them were targeted for murder while on the job because of their work, Fox news reports.The Committee to Protect Journalists reports stated the number of journalists killed in 2014 was down from 70 the year before, but the past three years have been the deadliest since the organization started compiling such records in 1992. • Starting next year, the IRS will auction off Darryl Strawberry’s guaranteed annuity payments from the NY Mets to pay off his tax debts from 1989, 1990, 2003 and 2004,. When he signed the $7mil deal in 1985 with the Mets, a portion of that was to be paid out over 30 years after the end of his career. They will auction off the right to receive the monthly checks. The I.R.S. has set a minimum bid of $550,000 for the right to receive the remaining payments of $1.28 million. [NY TIMES]
• Free agent basketball player Josh Smith, formerly of the Pistons, is being eyed by several teams including the Miami Heat. The organization applied for a Disabled Player Exception, which can be used by a team over the salary cap to replace a player who is out for the season, due to the season-ending knee injury suffered by forward Josh McRoberts. • Christmas sales of sessions on Europe’s biggest collection of flight simulators will lift public bookings beyond 700 for the year. The British Airways packages starting at £399 for an hour flying a single-aisle Boeing 737 and rising to £1,347 for three hours piloting a 777 or 747 jumbo. Tuition is included. [BLOOMBERG]
