• Two police officers were shot, one in the shoulder the other in the chest, overnight during protest in front of the Ferguson police station. The shots, which witnesses said they believed originated from the top of a hill about 220 yards directly across from the station, came hours after the Ferguson police chief, Thomas Jackson, announced that he would resign. • A fatal fire at a Russian shopping center in the city of Kazan has left 5 people dead and up to 25 people missing, feared trapped inside. Admiral centre is one of Kazan’s largest shopping centers and business owners who had broken through a police security cordon to save their goods from the fire were feared to be among those trapped in the rubble. • The NFL will host it’s first ever veteran combine on March 22 at Arizona Cardinals’ practice facility in Tempe, Ariz allowing free agents planning that include veteran players who have been starters in the NFL to players who are one year out of college with no regular-season experience. Some of the players scheduled to attend include: Defensive end Michael Sam(Missouri), Quarterback Mike Kafka(Northwestern). [ESPN]
• One of Michael Jordan’a earliest NBA game-worn Nike basketball shoes will auctioned off next month and may draw bids past the $50,000. The shoes were reportedly given to Khalid Ali, a ball boy for the LA Lakers during the 1984-85 season, after the Chicago Bulls played the Lakers on Dec. 2, 1984. [ESPN]

• Alibaba Group Holding, looking to build up its mobile services has invested $200 million into photo-messaging app Snapchat. With a steady increase in shopping via smartphones and tablets, Alibaba has not had much success developing a popular messaging app to compete against arch-rival Tencent Holdings Ltd’s WeChat service. Alibaba, has also started a ¥1 billion ($160 million) fund with China’s largest automaker-SAIC Motor Corp., to develop a Web-enabled car that may go on sale next year.[BLOOMBERG]
• Japanese online retailer Rakuten Inc, led funding round of $530 million for Lyft ridesharing service giving it a valuation of $2.5 billion, investing $300 million for an 11.9 percent stake. Asian e-commerce and Internet giants have been particularly active of late in investing in taxi-hailing app firms as well as other well known U.S. tech start-ups. [REUTERS]

• Mulberry, the London based fashion brand, has selected Thierry Andretta as its new CEO to join new Creative Director Johnny Coco.
