Some details regarding the federal investigation into CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett is being revealed and it may have something to do with the $20.5 million contract the district awarded, on a no-bid basis, her former employer SUPES. CPS signed its initial contract with SUPES for leadership training not long after Byrd-Bennett took office. Byrd-Bennett had worked for the company before joining CPS as a consultant in April 2012. A gyrocopter is not a drone or uber that delivers gyros, unfortunately, but rather an aircraft powered by propellers and this is what disgruntled Florida mailman Doug Hughes arrived on, in a no-fly zone, on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol yesterday. The purpose of his flight was to personally deliver 535 letters by “air mail” to members of Congress, something he he had been planning for months based on a Tampa Bay Times published a story about Hughes, who had told the paper he planned to fly to Congress in his gyrocopter. Russian President Vladimir Putin answered questions from the public during a live question-and-answer session in Moscow which he touched on the killing of top Kremlin critic Boris Nemtsov, Russia’s economic issues and foreign policy issues such as Iraq’s nuclear deal. Putin said that Russia-West ties, which are in shambles over the Ukrainian crisis, could be normalized if the West shows a willingness to compromise and respect Moscow’s interests. [MIAMI HERALD]

Guilty on all charges! Former New England Patriots player, 25-year-old Aaron Hernandez was found guilty of killing Odin Llyod and the conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole. Chicago based investment firm, Citadel, has secured former Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke as an adviser; his role will encompass him analyzing global economic and financial issues to Citadel’s investment committees and also meet with Citadel’s investors around the globe. Lambertson and Truex the luxury accessories design duo joined Detroit based Shinola last October as co-directors of leather accessories and their first collaboration will be available in top-tier department stores and Shinola locations in mid-August.
Small leather goods will start at $95 and larger items range from $695 to $1,250. Lambertson and Truex will also be involved with the College of Creative Studies, a Detroit design school. Shinola and CFDA  are working with the school on a four-year accessories design degree program, they would teach. [WWD]
