South Africa, in the last two weeks, has been wrecked with violence against African and other immigrants with at least four people killed in the unrest that started in Durban. Machete-armed residents burned down shops owned by foreigners, accusing African immigrants of taking their jobs and committing crimes. [CNN]

• Britt McHenry an ESPN reporter, has been suspended for one week as a result of a leaked video showing her exchange with a towing company employee in which she was told she was being recorded. Due to a global outage in Bloomberg’s financial terminals early this morning, which provides real-time financial data but also the go-to means of communication for hundreds of thousands of traders, the U.K had to postpone a scheduled multi-billion buy-back of government debt and some bond deals had to be postponed.
