CHICAGO NEWS

Delays on some of CTA Red and Purple/Evanston Express rail lines are expected due to track work that will last until 2016. The southbound Purple Line trains, which normally run express from Howard to Belmont, will stop at the Wilson, Sheridan and Addison stations during morning rush periods only. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]

NATIONAL NEWS

Apple’s highly anticipated “Spring Forward” event today may be to reveal more plans on the iWatch. The Washington Post last week suggested that Apple might add carpeting and mirrors and change store lighting to enhance the watch-buying experience; some speculate the watch will be offered at special pop-up stores installed at luxury retailers such as Selfridges in London and Colette in Paris. WORLD NEWS

In a forthcoming film, Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed he planned the annexation of Crimea. The operation to annex Crimea was kept secret at the time, with Russia denying all involvement, although Mr Putin later admitted deploying troops on the peninsula. [BBC]

SPORTS

The NFL’s free agency signing season got some action over the weekend as several players have re-signed with their current teams, or got bigger deals elsewhere. Frank Gore, formerly of the 49ers signed with Philadelphia Eagles, Ndamukong Suh is leaving Detroit and signed a $114 million deal with Miami. Patriots resigned Devin McCourty for 5 years $47.5 million, with $28.5 million guaranteed. [ESPN]

BUSINESS

General Motors has launched a stock buyback program which begins immediately until the end of 2016. This decision came after several hedge fund investor groups, led by investor Harry Wilson, pressed GM to distribute more cash through an $8 billion buy-back. Wilson will withdraw his candidacy for the GM board. [USA TODAY]

CELEBRITIES

Over the weekend, Kanye West performed at the Frank Gehry designed Fondation Louis Vuitton, in one of four concerts that will end Tuesday. Video of his dancing from the show has surfaced online and taken on viral meme of its own. [WWD]

FASHION

Departures magazine’s fashion and style director, Horacio Silva is leaving his post one year after joining the magazine, though he will remain a contributing editor. He will become editor in chief and creative director of Faena, a real estate development group that focuses on design and art for its projects founded by Alan Faena, the Argentinan André Balazs. [WWD]
