♦U.S. Rep Charles Rangel of New York held a narrow lead in a closely watched race in the Democratic primary elections and his quest for a 23rd term. Challenger  Adriano Espaillat has yet to concede defeat stating 6,000 provisional and absentee ballots still out.

♦ Meriam Ibrahim who was freed after being sentenced to death for not denouncing Christianity has now been detained from leaving Sudan and charged with fraud. The US Ambassador has also been summoned over the attempts to help free her.

♦ Page Six reports that top directors such as Bennett Miller, Julie Taymor, Paul Haggis, Morgan Spurlock and James Toback came out to support a new documentary on Chicago’s own the  late, beloved film critic Roger Ebert.

♦ Try this for lunch next time. The Daily Meal has named L’Patron list of top 35 burritos in the country. The Logan Square based stand also joins other Chicago eateries Irazu and La Pasadita.

♦ Chicago has won the Lucas Museum. The  fierce competition with Los Angeles and San Francisco was first annouced by Michael Sneed of suntimes. Chicago’s lakefront museum campus will house the new $1 billion Lucas Museum of Narrative Art on a 17-acre site located on parking lots between Soldier Field and McCormick Place. It will open in 2018
