SNL Alum and Brooklyn nine nine star Andy Samberg closed the season with lots of guest appearances from his SNL alum mates including Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Martin Short, Kristen Wiig. There was also a guest appearance by Pharell in the Lonely Island song “hugs” as well as a parody of the now infamous Solange/JayZ elevator fight. Did you know that a spider caused the fight? yep, foot five!

♦ Jennifer Lopez was presented the 2014 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards tonight (May 18) live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Ms. Lopez is the first woman to win the award that includes past recipients Prince, Neil Diamond and Stevie Wonder.

♦ Yahoo pulls out. Yahoo Japan has rescinded offer of Y324bn ($3.2bn) deal to buy a mobile phone carrier eAccess from its own largest shareholder.

♦ The U.S Justice Department has filed criminal charges against several Chinese government officials, accusing them of stealing American trade secrets through cyber espionage. Details of the charges will be announced by US Attorney General Eric Holder in a press conference later today.

 

♦ HAWKS WIN!!! HAWKS WIN!! The Chicago Blackhawks are inching closer to another Stanley Cup appearance defeating the L.A Kings 3-1 in first game of the Western Conference finals series.

♦ This is neigh joking matter. California Chrome won the Preakness Stakes over the weekend but it looks like something may be getting in the way of claiming the Triple Crown at June 7 Belmont Stakes. The horse may be prevented from wearing nasal strips that helps with breathing.

♦ Done Deal! AT&T has agreed to buy the largest satelite TV provider DirecTV for $48.5 billion. The merger was approved by both boards on Sunday. In the deal, AT&T would pay DirecTV shareholders $95 per share. Including DirecTV’s debt, the total transaction’s value is about $67.1 billion. The acquisition broadens AT&T’s footprint nationally and creates a pay-TV giant that can offer video through both fiber-optics lines and satellites.
