Amidst reports that the Department of Justice will announce this week a civil probe into the patterns and practices of the Chicago Police Department, Scott Ando, head of the Independent Police Review Authority- the agency charged with investigating police shootings in Chicago, has resigned. First Deputy and General Counsel of the city’s Office of the Inspector General and former federal prosecutor, Sharon Fairley will take over. [WGN]

Yesterday evening, President Obama addressed the nation from the Oval Office, reassuring Americans that the U.S. and other Western responses have gained ground against organized, wide-scale terrorist attacks from entities such as ISIS noting “The threat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it.” “Muslim Americans are our friends and our neighbors are coworkers, our sports heroes. And yes, they are our men and women in uniform who are willing to die in defense of our country, we have to remember that.” He called for review of the no-fly list as well as not allowing people on the list to buy guns.
