• San Francisco’s police chief, Greg Suhr at the request of Mayor Ed Lee, resigned Thursday following the shooting death of an unarmed African American woman in a suspected stolen car. Police said there was no immediate indication that the woman was armed or had been driving the car toward officers when she was shot. This was the third fatal shooting of a suspect by San Francisco police within the past six months, “tensions between law enforcement and communities of color that have simmered for too many years.”
• On the 15th anniversary of the opening of its first retail store, Apple unveiled in downtown San Francisco, what they call the future of their retail location. One of the offerings is a backyard “forum” that will be open 24 hours a day, featuring a 50-foot green wall, free Wi-Fi, and a 47-year-old restored fountain from San Francisco sculptor Ruth Asawa. Apple’s retail VP Angela Ahrendts, former CEO of Burberry, at the press preview said “The over-arching vision of the future of Apple retail … is what do we want Apple’s role in the community to be? The store becomes one with the community.” Assuming this concept will debut at Apple’s recently secured riverfront location in Chicago.
• Six members of the Martinez family were killed back in early February in Gage Park and now authorities have arrested two suspects. 22-year-old Diego Uribe, nephew of one of the victims and his girlfriend 19-year-old Jafeth Ramos have been charged with six counts of first-degree murder.

• amfAR’s 23rd annual Cinema Against AIDS Gala 2016 continued the glitz and glam of Cannes Film Festival with celebs including Uma Thurman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Roman Abramovic’s wife Dasha Zhukov, Derek Blasberg, models such as Adriana Lima,Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss attending the pricey Harry Winston, Weinstein Company sponsored affair that took place at the Hotel Du Cap. The disco themed bash included performance from Katy Perry, The Village People and Sister Sledge. Carine Roitfeld, curated the fashion show which featured an almost full frontal Bella Hadid. “Dancing with the Stars” has made Mischa Barton relevant at least enough to get an invite, oy.
