How often do you get to gawk at a sleeping lioness, pet an armadillo or a snake, if that’s your thing or ride a carousel under the stars that takes you back to your childhood days? Chicago residents and visitors to the city have free access to it everyday of the year thanks to the Lincoln Park Zoo and to make sure it continues to be free, a group of young professionals are doing their part by raising money to support its initiatives.
Saturday evening (5/14) The Auxiliary Board of Lincoln Park Zoo hosted their 6th annual fundraiser, Zoo-ologie Urban Zoo-Fari!, welcoming over 300 guests. For those of you not familiar with the Chicago social calendar, spring/summer is when most of the city’s auxiliary and junior (young professional) boards host their fundraising events and ZooOlogie is one of the must attend of the season.
VIP guests got a head start at the event arriving at 7pm for the evening which went well until midnight with the afterparty at SHAY Nightclub. Guests tucked into the special VIP area to devour the special food offerings including delicious slices of steak and sinful desert from Ruth’s Chris, specialty cocktails and custom photo booth. Congrats to winner of our VIP ticket giveaway Genevieve Gonnigan!
As the rest of the guests arrived through the Kovlar lion house, it got louder and wilder. Guests were treated to food offerings from Chicago area restaurants while making their way into the tent to more food and libations. In between sets from the DJ, evening’s entertainment The Personnel took the stage and well, if you weren’t there or following us on snapchat {username: sociaLifechi} you missed out on the wild fun. With some Tullamore Dew and Milagro cocktails, beer and wine for liquid courage, the dance floor and sing back from the crowd was amazing! Zoo-ologie Urban Zoo-Fari! was chaired by Jennifer Teubl, Mark Buechler and Carley Champlin.
The evening also featured 3 special raffle items.
