• Lightning in the states of Bihar (India) has killed at least 79 people over the past two days, most of them farm laborers working in the fields during the monsoon season. Lightning is the leading cause of natural calamity death in the country.

• John Cramsey, Dean Smith and Kimberly Arendt were pulled over by NJ police outside the Holland Tunnel, in a monster truck full of weapons and body armour and subsequently arrested. Cramsey, a self-styled vigilante who lost his 20-year-old daughter to a heroin and fentanyl overdose, were on their way to save a 16 year old girl in Brooklyn. Heroin deaths in the past few years have increased rapidly.

•  Elon Musk’s Tesla Motors Inc has made an offer to buy Elon Musk’s solar installation firm SolarCity Corp for $2.8 billion in stock deal. Musk, who is the chairman of SolarCity, CEO of Tesla and the largest shareholder of both companies, described the deal as a “no brainer.”

•  Rumors (not the Lindsay Lohan song) of a relationship between Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx continues ot persist and former radio host and RHOA cast member Claudia Jordan confirmed the relationship on the  Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss’ Allegedly podcast. Foxx nor Holmes have never confirmed said relationship.
 

• ESPN’s ‘The Body Issue’ will feature Chicago area athletes Elena Delle Donne (Chicago Sky), Christen Press (Chicago Red Stars soccer team) and Jake Arrieta (Chicago Cubs). Robbins native Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat) is also featured in the issue.

•  Mayhoola for Investments has completed the transcation to buy the fashion house Balmain. In a recently released statement, the Qatari investment firm that’s also the parent company of Valentino SpA, was named as 100% capital holder of Balmain, two years after Balmain’s former CEO Alain Hivelin passed away.
