• EXPO Chicago opened last night with Vernissage at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. Artists, Gallerists, collectors and city officials were on hand to help kick off the 4th year of the art show. It runs until Sunday. [EXPO CHICAGO]
•Tommy Schaefer, the boyfriend of Heather Mack has confessed to killing Sheila von Wiese-Mack and stuffing her body in a suitcase. Sheila von Wiese-Mack was found in a suitcase inside the trunk of a taxi at the St. Regis Bali Resort. Mack, who is three months’ pregnant, admitted in a separate interrogation that she helped Schaefer stuff her mother’s body into a suitcase. [AP]

• Oracle Founder and team principal of sailing race America’s Cup, Lawrence J. Ellison is stepping down as CEO but not leaving the company. The CEO role will now be shared by Mark V. Hurd and Safra A. Catz and Mr. Ellison will stay on as executive chairman and CTO, the move is effective immediately. He is estimated to be worth about $46 billion. [NY TIMES]

• That was close but Scotland votes NO! Voters decisively rejected independence and Scotland will remain part of the United Kingdom. the “No” side won with 2,001,926 votes over 1,617,989 for “Yes”. The three main unionist parties at Westminster would now follow through with their pledge of more powers for the Scottish Parliament. [BBC]
• France launched its first air strike against a logistics depot of the terrorist organisation Daesh in north-east Iraq and destroying the intended target. This is France’s support to the Iraqi army to fight the militant group IS. [ABC ONLINE]

• HE GONE! Former Chicago Bears Devin Hester, who now plays for the Atlanta Falcons, did what he does best- punt returns in the craziest way. His 62-yard punt return at the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was his record 20th touchdown return, breaking the record that he previously shared with Deion Sanders. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]
• Gatorade’s ad tribute to Derek Jeter will begin airing on Saturday.
BUSINESS
• We can’t stop talking about Alibaba. The China-based company took over the title of the world’s largest online retailer by market capitalization from Amazon. Amazon remains the world’s biggest e-commerce company by revenue, with sales totaling $74.5 billion last year; Alibaba’s sales are a fraction of that $8.6 billion. Alibaba is set to begin trading on the NYSE today. “As a publicly traded company, Alibaba now presents an alternative for investors who want to benefit from growing global demand for online shopping. The IPO also gives Alibaba new cash that it can use to expand into areas — including possibly the U.S. — where it can vie with Amazon for customers.” [BLOOMBERG]

•Glenview Haus” will once again host the North Shore’s most exciting all-day Oktoberfest celebration this side of Munich on Saturday, September 20.
