 The serial rapist and former Oklahoma police officer was convicted of rape yesterday;  the case garnered headlines because of the all white jury in a case that involved all african american victims. “During traffic stops and interrogations, in the back of his police car or in their own homes, he used the threat of arrest to force women to submit to sexual assault and rape. Many of his victims had criminal records or histories of drug use; most lived in the low-income neighborhood where he patrolled. All 13 of them the youngest victim at 17 years old,  were African American.” Though he was charged with 36 counts, he was convicted of 18 of those crimes arising from the assaults of eight of the 13 women with a recommended sentence of 263 years in jail; he turned 29 on Thursday.
