• The two teens charged with first-degree murder in the Rogers Park shooting that left Wil Lewis dead will appear in court Friday after being arrested in Racine, WI last month. [DNA INFO CHICAGO]

NATIONAL NEWS

• The corruption trial of ex-Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen is still ongoing but prosecutors finished presenting their case Thursday. They are being charged with falsifying financial documents, taking more than $165,000 in gifts and loans from Jonnie Williams, the former CEO of dietary supplements maker Star Scientific. In one case they spent $36,000 entertaining at a Cape Cod resort including 16 servings of Louis XIII cognac totaling $2,400. Williams has said he gifted them things such as Oscar de la Renta dresses, Louis Vuitton shoes, a $6,500 Rolex watch, golf outings, vacations and $15,000 to cover catering expenses for a daughter’s wedding. #ballinonyourbudget. Following the prosecution’s three weeks presentation, the defense will begin soon. [NY TIMES]
• The name of the officer who shot unarmed Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown will be released reports ABC news. “Police Chief Thomas Jackson told ABC News that authorities will meet later this morning to figure out the best way to release the officer’s name. Police previously declined to identify the officer amid safety concerns.” [ABC NEWS]

WORLD NEWS

• Iraq’s top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has communicated his support of new prime minister Haider al-Abadi. Nuri al-Maliki, Iraq’s former prime minister finally stepped down and here’s to hoping its a new day and change for the war torn country. [REUTERS]
• Ahead of it’s pending US IPO, much speculated to be one of the world’s largest ever , Alibaba group disclosed an accounting problem in a business they invested in. “certain possibly non-compliant treatment of financial information in the (c)ompany’s accounting records” were discovered in “Hong Kong-listed film production company that Alibaba Group spent $804 million for a 60% stake.” [FORBES]

SPORTS

• Football season is upon us. The Chicago Bears hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars and won 20-19. [USA TODAY]
•Rob Manfred is the new Major League Baseball commissioner, making him the 10th commissioner of the league. [BOSTON GLOBE]

CELEBRITIES

• The Hollywood foreign press grants banquet was held last night and lots of stars came out. Jason Segel, Anne Heche, Michael Pena, Sofia Vergara, Morgan Freeman, Chris Evans, Chaz Ebert, Elle Fanning, Gina Rodriguez, Kerry Washington, Minnie Driver, Robert Pattinson, Rose McGowan, Nick Jonas and Andy Samberg. The event shifted from an afternoon luncheon to an evening affair replete with lots of Moet & CHandon reports the Hollywood reporter. The evening wasn’t all about stars and champs, the foreign press gave $2million out to select non-profit organizations including: Pablove Foundation Shutterbugs program, The Film Foundation, Outfest and UCLA to name a few. • “What’s new pussycat” wasn’t just a Davy Jones song.  Apparently this was what fashion commerce game changer Natalie Massenet almost called what is now Net-A-Porter. “My lawyer said I couldn’t call it What’s New, Pussycat? for legal reasons, so I had to find a new name…I took my WWD dictionary
