Dennis Hastert. The former Yorkville High wrestling coach and former speaker of the house, is facing up to 5 years in prison at his sentencing today (4/27) by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Durkin; though prosecutors had asked for a maximum 6-month sentence, plus probation, in exchange for Hastert’s guilty plea in October. How did he get here? Well, he tried to pay off a former student he allegedly sexually abused but got caught not for that but by the feds for withdrawing large sums of money in small increments to evade bank rules about reporting major cash movements. Turns out, Individual A whom Hastert had entered an agreement to pay $3.5 million to compensate him for pain and suffering from sexual abuse when he was 14 was not the only victim, Individual D who was a 17-year-old wrestler when he claims Hastert performed a sex act on him after practice, is expected to testify at the sentencing hearing. Hastert’s lawyers provided the judge with more than 40 letters, from his wife, Tom DeLay, in support of Mr. Hastert. Read more

• Police are investigating the murder of a San Jose, Calif. couple found slain in their house with a note next to their bodies scrawled in black ink, that read “Sorry, my first kill was clumsy,” another report citing an anonymous source said that the note continued, stating, “I can’t be like you, telling a lie. I can’t love someone without telling them.”
• Chobani yogurt’s 2,000 full-time employees are walking with extra pep in their steps today as the company’s CEO announced yesterday that he would be giving them shares worth up to 10 percent of the company when it goes public or is sold, that could make some of them millionaires. • Prince, who died last week at age 57, did not leave a will prompting his sister Tyka Nelson to file legal papers to have a special administrator appointed to gather and protect his assets. Former members of his band the Revolution plan to reunite for ‘some shows.’ Singer D’Angelo payed tribute to the late icon last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
• Eight soldiers and three civilians were gunned down at a military barracks in West Africa’s Cape Verde and now police are looking for the suspect, a disgruntled soldier. The former Portuguese colony’s government said in facebook statement, “personal motives” inspired the attack, ruling out an attempted coup or any connection with violence associated with drug trafficking that has recently plagued the Cape Verde archipelago made up of 10 islands with a population of 500,000 and 370 miles off Senegal.

• The TIME 100 celebration was held last night in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Donald Trump attended with wife Melania, Nicki Minaj and Arianna Grande who were named to the list performed. Other attendees included astronaut Scott Kelly, Caitlyn Jenner, Google’s Eric Schmidt, Melissa McCarthy, Gina Rodriguez, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, designer Alexander Wang and singer Tinashe.
• DreamWorks Animation is in talks with Comcast to be sold for more than $3 billion; Dreamworks is currently worth $2.3 billion. Comcast already owns NBC, Telemundo, the USA network and Universal Studios.
