Chefs Corner: Jake Melnick's Maple Bacon Bourbon Chicken Wings

Football Sunday is here and that means hosting friends for watch parties and having fun with the food you serve.
We asked the chef at Jake Melnick’s (41 E. Superior) the recipe for their Maple Bacon Bourbon chicken wings.

Whether you are hosting the game or headed to someone’s place for a watch party, give this recipe a try for a winning food situation.

4 slices thick cut smoked bacon (SLC prefers Neiman Ranch or Neuske’s)
4 cloves chopped garlic
1/2 cup prepared apple sauce
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 bourbon whiskey
2 Tbs soy sauce
1 Tbs apple cider vinegar
1 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs honey
1 Tbs hot sauce

Cut the bacon into 1/2 in strips. In a medium size skillet brown until almost crisp over med-high heat. Then add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes or until browned. Whisk in remaining ingredients and simmer until sauce thickens (about 5-7 mins).
