Well hope you’re frigging ready and excited because the Olympics of Fashion will be coming to you May 6th and the red carpet arrivals will be live streamed on ModaOperandi.com 6pm/CST. This year’s exhibit theme at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is PUNK: Chaos to Couture and to celebrate, Moda Operandi, the oh so chic oh so luxurious online e-commerce founded by Lauren Santo Domingo aka The LSD and Áslaug Magnúsdóttir will be launching an exclusive punk collection May 2 (MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!). The collection will feature over 100 pieces of items that celebrate punk, including new pieces by Givenchy, Balmain, Prabal Gurung, Preen, Rodarte, Thom Browne and Vivienne Westwood. Also included in the collection will be one-of-a-kind customized clothing and rare vintage fashion and art objects that pay homage to punk, ranging in price from $100 to $13,000.
Some of the items in the collection will be:
Pieces from Eddie Borgo include made-to-order tees hand-studded with the jewelry designer’s signature spikes and a pave cone-stud choker reminiscent of punk’s iconic appropriation of dog collars.
Balmain’s lace-up ankle boots boast a spindly spike heel and bondage-like buckles.
Thom Browne punks his prep aesthetic with a wool kilt skirt featuring vertical rows of two-way zips.
Givenchy delivers on punk’s aesthetic showmanship with a chiffon-and-leather cape and studded leather tee.
The reigning doyenne of punk, Vivienne Westwood, designs a shirttail bustier and two corseted dresses fashioned in exclusive tartan prints for the collection.
