TIGER WOODS. Remember when Tiger Woods was on top of the golf/sports world and then went through some personal challenges and nursed some bad injuries? All those setbacks seemed like a lifetime away after his win Sunday at the Masters in Augusta Georgia. Going to the final day of the tournament, Tiger hadn’t won a major championship since 2008. He was down and with that 2 second putt on the 18th he won and celebrated triumphantly. The scene where he hugged his son Charlie was reminiscent of when he embraced his father Earl after his first win at the Masters in 1997. Tiger will pocket a $2.07 million paycheck, making him the first Masters champion to earn more than $2 million. - LOCAL/CHICAGO: Some lawmakers in downstate Illinois must have gotten hold of a batch of really good and strong edibles when they proposed that Chicago become the 51st state. Republican lawmakers proposed the legislation, co-sponsored C.D Davidsmeyer, after frustration on how the city’s politics impacts rural residents in downstate Illinois. - NATIONAL: Following weeks of speculation, while many fell in love with his husband Chasten during explorative stops, South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg (pronounced boot-eh-gedge) announced Sunday he is running for President at an event in South Bend. Some Chicago area supporters who joined for the announcement were spotted. He joins the crowded field of Democratic nominees and with the announcement the campaign has raised $1M in less than a day. Tough there’s the case of the subpoenaed tapes. Freshman Rep Illhan Omar has been getting death threats since President Trumps criticism of her controversial remarks about 9/11. Speaker Pelosi has asked for a security assessment to safeguard her. Corie Barry, who is Best Buy’s CFO will become its new CEO and the first woman to lead the company in its 53 year history.
- OVER THE WEEKEND: A Fordham University student, 22-year-old Sydney Monfries, died after falling from the campus’ Bell Tower. The report is that Monfries, who was set to graduate this spring, climbed up with friends to get a picture of the city skyline when she fell; She will be awarded her degree posthumously. Dancing With The Stars‘ Val Chmerkovsky and Jenna Johnson tied the knot over the weekend in California. Saturday Night Live’s special musical guest this weekend was none other than K-Pop sensation boy band BTS and they made history as first Korean group to perform on the show. The appearance was coming off the release of their new single “(방탄소년단) ‘작은 것들을 위한 시 translated to (Boy With Luv) with Halsey, off their new album Map of The Soul. Star Wars brought the stars to Chicago Friday for its Star Wars celebration at McCormick Place.

- Mossimo Giannulli and Lori Loughlin have entered pleas of “Not Guilty” in the college admission bribery scandal they are embroiled in. They allegedly paid Rick Singer’s operation to help get their daughter Olivia Jade, a popular Youtube, into USC. Based on the charges against them, they face a minimum of 4 years and so behind bars.
- That’s a wrap for 2019 Coachella Weekend 1 and here were some of the highlights. Though there were reports of several big brands opting out this year, there was still no shortage of brand activations and #spon content from Insta influencers. YSL’s beauty pop-up, Revolve Festival, McDonald’s Bootsy Bellows bash. On the music front, Ariana Grande (youngest female artist to headline Coachella) closed out Sunday with her headlining slot by bringing out *NSYNC (minus Justin T) and Nicki Minaj. Cardi B and Selena Gomez popped in for DJ Snake’s set while Katy Perry got on stage with Zedd. Childish Gambino, Kid Cudi and YG honored slain rapper Nipsey Hussle during their sets. Blackpink made history as the first k-pop act to perform at Coachella with their US festival debut. Latin artist Rosalia was able to hold her own and was a guest on stage with J Balvin. Janelle Monáe brought out LizzO.

Haters will say AW might be angling to get her on Vogue cover the way she heaped on praises to Meghan Markle and her style selections.
