The Spirit Airlines flight attendant who took a picture posing inside the jet engine well was busted when passengers asked for her name and realizd she was taking a profile pic for her Facebook page. Chuck Goudie of the I-team was on the case and Spirit released a statement. Reason #12926 to never fly spirit to be honest. [ABC 7 CHICAGO]


NATIONAL NEWS

The body of Vincent Viafore was found in the Hudson River over memorial weekend and his fiancee, Angelika Graswald is the suspected killer, being held on $3-million cash bail. Prosecutors allege she removed a plug from her boyfriend’s kayak boat so that it would fill with water because she stood to gain a quarter-million dollars from his life insurance policy. Cue the producers of Snapped! or Lifetime. [L.A TIMES]


WORLD NEWS

Forbes has named their 100 Most Powerful Women of 2015 and its a very mixed bag of women from around the world. The top ten with German Chancellor Angela Merkel toping the list-includes the most powerful women in politics, philanthropy, business and tech-Hillary Clinton, Melinda Gates, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, General Motors chief executive Mary Barra, the International Monetary Fund’s Christine Lagarde, Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Wojcicki and Michelle Obama with Oprah Winfrey at No. 12 and Beyonce Knowles at No. 21; Taylor Swift at number 64. No. 13. Virginia Rometty CEO of IBM will deliver Northwestern University’s commencement speech; Chicago born Ertharin Cousin Executive Director of the World Food Programme also made the list. [FORBES]


SPORTS

These FIFA officials may need to dial up Olivia Pope. Several top soccer officials, 14, were arrested at the Baur au Lac in Zurich and will be swiftly extradited to the United States on federal corruption charges of over $150 million in bribes and kickbacks spanning two decades. The arrests came during the multibillion-dollar organization’s annual meeting. The investigation grew out of allegations of payoffs to officials who decided where to hold the next two World Cups, the biggest international event in sports, which surprisingly was handed to Russia for 2018 and Qatar in 2022. American FIFA official, Charles Blazer, has already pleaded guilty and reportedly wore an undercover wire to record conversations with fellow soccer officials. Though FIFA’s longtime president Sepp Blatter was not charged it does not look good for his fifth term election coming up on Friday. [NYTIMES]

• The Cleveland Cavs are heading to the NBA Finals. Weird to say, but the Cavs dismissed the Atlanta Hawks with a 118-88 in Game 4. This will be Cleveland’s first trip to the Finals since 2007 and making Lebron James the first NBA player to reach the Finals 5 consecutive times with two different teams. Along with Lebron James, a healed Kyrie Irving, Imani Shumpert, J.R. Smith with his second consecutive double-double helped cinch the win. They will face the winner of the Houston Rockets-Golden State Warriors matchup. [USA TODAY]


BUSINESS

Vox Media, the new media parent company of SB Nation, The Verge, Curbed, Eater just added to its cache bringing it even more cred. Re/code, founded by former Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher 18 months ago under Revere Digital, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum it was announced at the Code Conference. The company, said to have struggled to draw significant traffic and revenue will “benefit from joining Vox Media by integrating Vox Media’s various capabilities — including marketing, communications, audience development, sales and production.” [FORBES]

Singer John Legend and Sports Illustrated model wife Chrissy Teigen are the cover stars of Dujour Magazine. In one shot, Chrissy can be seen stretching on the beach in the nude. [DUJOUR]

• Actress Nia Long is engaged to her boyfriend Ime Udoka, they’ve been dating since 2010 and have a 3-year-old son together. [PEOPLE]


FASHION

Fashion brand The Band of Outsiders may be closing according to reports. They’ve cancelled all autumn/winter 2015 wholesale orders which may be a close indication things aren’t going so well. The label was founded by Scott Sternberg in 2004. [VOGUE UK]

Yelp, the online review site has partnered with Shoptiques an e-commerce site that allows you to shop cool local boutiques directly, like a farfetch but with lower price point. Shoptiques.com, Yelp’s first partner in the shopping vertical,will roll out over the course of the coming months and they are already live with more than 200 businesses. [YELP]
