• As promised, Mayor Rahm Emanuel released the first Problem Landlord List. DNA reports, the list includes 59 owners of 45 properties who are not providing their residents with their entitled services. [DNA INFO]

• What was expected to be the most brutal snowstorm that New York has seen didn’t pan out as such. Though snowfalls had exceeded two feet in some places, New York City was spared and travel bans on most roads across the state and in the city had been lifted by this morning. Mayor Bill de Blasio, appearing on CNN, said that the decision to completely shut down the city was the right one, even if the forecasts did not turn out to be accurate.[NY TIMES]
WORLD NEWS
• The 70th anniversary of those who survived Auschwitz II-Birkenau the Nazi extermination camp, will be observed today. About 300 Auschwitz survivors have gathered at the site of the former Nazi death camp where 1.1 million people, the vast majority Jews, were killed between 1940 and 1945. It is expected to be the last major anniversary event survivors are able to attend in considerable numbers. Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated by the Soviet army on 27 January 1945. It opened as a museum in 1947. [BBC]

• Day 10 of the Australian Open may set the stage for a Venus Williams vs Serena Williams showdown which hasn’t happened in over five years. • 4th Quarter earnings for most corporations are begin reported as well as forecasting 2015 sales. Some hit the mark, some missed and other exceeded expectations. Procter & Gamble Co, maker of Pampers diapers and Tide detergent reported lower-than-expected revenue and profit for the second quarter ended Dec. 31 and that net sales would fall 3-4 percent in the full year due to a stronger dollar. Sales rose 2 percent on an organic basis in all businesses except beauty, hair and personal care due to lower demand for its Olay creams and other products. Caterpillar Inc reported lower quarterly net profit that missed expectations as lower prices for copper, coal and iron ore hurt mining equipment orders, and warned the recent fall in oil prices would make for a difficult year in 2015. • Actor Gary Sinise responded to comments made by Howard Dean during his guest spot on Friday’s Real Time With Bill Maher, where the former DNC Chairman said the film taps into the audience’s anger. “There’s a lot of anger in this country, and the people who go see this movie are people who are very angry.” Sinise, an ardent supporter of various veterans’ organizations made this response via twitter: “I saw American Sniper and would not consider myself to be an angry person,” Sinise wrote. “You certainly have a right to make stupid blanket statements, suggesting that all people who see this film are angry, but how is that helpful sir?” [HOLLYWOOD REPORTER]
