• There’s a new hotspot soon to open from the crew at Footman Hospitality (Bangers & Lace, The Anthem, Bucktown Pub). The Betty, located next to Publican is set to open Wednesday. • One person, a construction worker, has been reported dead and another injured as an old bridge on Interstate 75 in Cincinnati which was undergoing demolition late Monday collapsed. Police officials stated there were several hundred tons of concrete and as the old bridge collapsed to the ground, a semi-tractor trailer driver who crashed into the rubble and suffered minor lacerations, was lucky by a matter of seconds. Southbound I-75 will be closed for at least 48 hours. [USA TODAY]
WORLD NEWS
• Video showing two Japanese hostages has been released by militant group Islamic State. A black-clad figure with a knife is seen talking and threatening to kill the hostages unless it received $200 million in ransom.The footage named the men as Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto, Reuters reports. The video resembled others distributed by Islamic State outlets in which captives were threatened or killed. It appeared to be the first time that an Islamic State video specifically demanded cash for captives. [REUTERS]
SPORTS
• After 16 consecutive losses, NY Knicks and their fans felt victory since their last win December 12. The Knicks beat the New Orleans Pelicans 99-92. Two players who were starters for the game were on 10-day contracts with the team. Langston Galloway, who signed his second 10-day contract on Saturday, had 21 points. The Knicks are now 6-36. [ESPN]
BUSINESS
• Shake Shack, the national burger joint that recently opened here in Chicago, is filing an IPO. Shake Shack wants to raise as much as $80 million in an initial public offering and plans to sell 5 million Class A shares for $14 to $16 apiece. Founded as a hot-dog cart by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group to help support the restoration of Manhattan’s Madison Square Park, the company now has more than 63 outlets in over 30 cities from London to Dubai and boasts sales growth of 41 percent in 2013. JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Morgan Stanley are managing the IPO.[BLOOMBERG]

• Ali Larter, wife of Chicagoan Hayes MacArthur gave birth to a baby girl last Thursday. “It’s a girl! We couldn’t be more excited to share news of the arrival of Vivienne Margaret MacArthur on Thursday January 15th 2015,” Larter shared on her website Monday night, E! reports. He is the son of Chicago’s Shelly Farley MacArthur. [E! NEWS]

• David Beckham’s collaboration with H&M has now expanded beyond just underwear line. He fronts a new collection campaign, Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham, shot by film director Marc Foster. “I am thrilled to continue and extend my collaboration with H&M by selecting my favourite pieces from this spring’s Modern Essentials collection…Each piece is a new wardrobe classic that will update every man’s spring wardrobe with great style.” This collection which coincides with the release of Beckham’s latest Bodywear collection, will be available at H&M from March 5.
