• Four former Blackwater Worldwide security guards have been sentenced for killing 14 unarmed civilians in Baghdad back in 2007, that they claim was in self defense. Nicholas A. Slatten, 31, received a life sentence after being convicted of murder in October; three others — Paul A. Slough, 35, Evan S. Liberty, 32, and Dustin L. Heard, 33 — were sentenced to 30 years plus one day after being convicted of multiple counts of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter. During the 10-week trial no witness testified they saw the guards come under fire, nor was evidence found that AK-47 rifles carried by Iraqi insurgents were used at the time. [WASHINGTON POST]

• 20-year-old Kenneth Morgan Stencil III, the suspect that shot print shop director Ron Lane, at North Carolina’s Wayne community college was spotted sleeping on a beach in Daytona, FL and arrested without incident. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]

Militants linked to the group Al-Shabaab attacked government building in Somalia capital of Mogadishu. Al Shabaab is the same group that claimed responsibility for the Garissa University attack that killed 148 people earlier this month. Al Shabaab, which once ruled much of Somalia, lost control of Mogadishu in 2011 and has been driven out of remaining major strongholds in a joint AU-Somalia military offensive launched last year. • Ohio State Football coach Urban Meyer, who led the Buckeyes to a National Title this year, had his contract extended to 2020 and saw a pay increase that will make him the second highest paid coach, behind Alabama’s Nick Saban. Meyer is 38-3 over three seasons with the Buckeyes. [ESPN]
• The NBA’s regular season is coming to a close and that means battle for playoff spots are heating up. Some of the league’s elite teams want not only the top seeds, which decide matchups, but also for the right to host playoff games. • Cle “Bone” Sloan, the man who survived being ran over by former head of Death Row Records Suge Knight, took the stand Monday and was in tears and said he would not snitch. Knight is charged with murder and attempted murder for allegedly running over Terry Carter, Cle “Bone” Sloan who received immunity,said he couldn’t remember much about the deadly crash. “I don’t want it to get misconstrued that I told on this man,” he said, pointing at Knight. “I’m no snitch.
