Jesse Jackson Jr, the former Illinois Rep. has been released from federal prison inside Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama and is on his way to Washington DC to serve out the rest of his 2 1/2 year sentence in a halfway house. His wife, former Alderman Sandra Jackson was sentenced to a year in prison for filing false joint federal income tax returns must serve her term after her husband completes his sentence. [ABC NEWS]

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been charged with desertion and misbehaving before the enemy, If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison. The court proceedings will be held at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in Texas, where Bergdahl has served since shortly after a U.S. Special Operations team whisked him away from his captors on a helicopter in Afghanistan. WORLD NEWS

Investigation continues in the Germanwings plane crash in the French Alps as it is revealed one of the pilots was locked out of the cockpit, intentionally; “One was in the cockpit and the other wasn’t.” An official stated, they “don’t know yet the reason why one of the guys went out, but what is sure is that at the very end of the flight, the other pilot is alone and does not open the door.” [REUTERS]

NFLDraftScout.com’s No. 8 overall prospect Nebraska junior pass rusher Randy Gregory tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine in February. The 2015 draft will take place April 30-May 2 in Chicago. [CBS SPORTS]


BUSINESS

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun an investigation into how American Apparel handled the departure of Chief Executive Officer Dov Charney. The review, a fact-finding inquiry to figure out if the law was violated, won’t be made public. [BLOOMBERG]

Celine Dion is set to make a return to Caesars Palace for a show on Aug.27  after taking a year off to care for her ailing husband. “I am scared of losing him, because it’s bad,” René Angélil struggles with throat cancer which prevents him from speaking, eating via a feeding tube and has all but completely taken over his independence. FASHION

 Amazon is rumored to be in ongoing talks to buy luxury retailer Net-A-Porter five years after it was bought by luxury group Richemont. Net-A-Porter founded by Natalie Massanet in 2000, is currently worth between $1.31 billion and $1.64 billion. Amazon  [VOGUE UK]
