Red Top Parking, Peoples Stadium Parking and Joseph Feldman have had United Center patrons park their cars on parcels owned by City Hall reports Chicago Sun Times. For nearly 20 years,they had been using the city-owned property, without paying rent or property taxes on the land. [SUN-TIMES]

 River West club Funky Buddha will close for good once  co-owner Nick Stavropoulos indicated that he plans to sell the business and will close down within 10 months reports DNA Info. Two November shootings near Funky Buddha prompted neighbors to call for the longtime’s bar’s closing.[DNA INFO]

NATIONAL NEWS

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Boston Marathon bombing suspect is due in court today. His last public appearance was 1 1/2 years ago following their deadly police standoff. Three of his friends were convicted this year of hampering the investigation by removing evidence from his dorm room or lying to the FBI. This is the last scheduled court hearing before jury selection begins on Jan. 5. [USA TODAY]

WORLD NEWS

It is suspected that Boko Haram militants have killed at least 33 people and kidnapped at least 100 in north-eastern Nigeria village of Gumsuri, reports BBC. The attack happened on Sunday but news has only just emerged, after survivors reached the city of Maiduguri. This is in addition to the 200 girls that were kidnapped and are still missing. [BBC]

SPORTS

• Jay Cutler will be benched Sunday against the Lions for backup Jimmy Clausen, the Notre Dame alum.  With every single Bears fan screaming “What took you so long Trestman?!” [ESPN]

Last year Jim Harbaugh coached the San Francisco 49ers into the playoffs but this year hasn’t been so kind to the team and now he is considering taking the head coaching job at University of Michigan which may involve a six-year, $48 million contract to return to Ann Arbor. Other NFL teams are waiting their turn to bid on a prospective trade for the coach who took the San Francisco 49ers to three NFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance the previous three seasons. BUSINESS

The State of New York will ban hydraulic fracturing after a long-awaited report concluded that the oil and gas extraction method poses health risks, reports Reuters. Fracking is a process that involves pumping water, sand and chemicals into a well to extract oil or gas. New York Environmental Commissioner Joseph Martens said at a cabinet meeting he will issue an order early next year banning fracking, which has been under a moratorium since 2008. [REUTERS]

CELEBRITIES

Stevie Wonder welcomed a child with his girlfriend, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy. This is his second child with Ms. Bracy and his ninth child. Us Weekly reports that Wonder’s rep confirms his little girls’ name means purpose, which is “one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa.” [US WEEKLY]

FASHION

Italian private equity firm Clessidra SGR SpA is said to be poised to secure up to 90% in purchase of the Roberto Cavalli brand. It is speculated that if a deal is reached, Cavalli may relinquish his role as designer and instead becoming a shareholder. Vogue UK reports, a deal between Clessidra and Cavalli has already fallen through before, in 2009, when the equity firm was reportedly set to acquire 30 per cent of the company. [VOGUE UK]
