• Yanis Varoufakis, Greece’s finance minister, has resigned as the country urgently seeks solution to its financial crisis. Following a 61.3% to reject the demands for more austerity from the ECB which reports states may have been Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras move to establish a deal soon. Meanwhile, Germany not so quick to restart bailout negotiations after Greeks voted against their international creditors’ conditions for further aid and France, the two biggest stakeeholders in Greece’s debts, are at odds on how to proceed with the financially crippled country that may potentially exit from the eurozone. • The US Women’s Soccer team were on fire last night in Canada, becoming the first to win the World Cup title 3 times as they beat Japan 5-2 in the finals of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Captain Carli Lloyd scored three goals in 16 minutes and Hope Solo was awarded the Golden Glove as top goalkeeper. While training alone before the tournament, Lloyd saw herself scoring four goals in the World Cup final, she said. [NY TIMES]
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the late-night Coke Zero 400 Nascar race, though a horrifying crash during the race sent Austin Dillon’s car sailing into the catchfence, but he walked away on his own. Golfer Rory McIlroy’s has suffered a total rupture of his left ATFL, a ligament in his left ankle while playing soccer, the announcement comes a week before the British Open Championship at St. Andrews. Floyd Mayweather is expected to be stripped of his World Boxing Organization welterweight title for 200K sanctioning fee by a July 3rd deadline in order to keep the belt. • Rumblings around the fashion world is speculating that Alexander Wang, amidst contract renewal negotiations with Kering, could be leaving Balenciaga after just over two-and-a-half years at the helm. Speaking of Paris, Paris Fashion Week: Haute Couture F/W 2015-2016 is currently underway with showings so far from Atelier Versace, Ulyana Sergeenko, Adeli. Other design houses including Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli, Schiaparelli, Chanel, Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Fendi & red carpet fave Zuhair Murad are scheduled to show through July 9.
