NYC founded fashion house Billy Reid want’s to set up shop in Chicago, specifically in the hot hot west loop reports Crains. They are looking at a space 845 W. Randolph. There isn’t much retail in that area and the last good store to sell quality high end wares was FIX and they closed years ago, perhaps its a new renaissance. [CRAINS]
The machete wielding assailants have been captured. “A group of four men and three teens walked up” to a A 26-year-old Jefferson Park and his brother at the Brown Line Kedzie station, the attacked resulted in teh brother requiring 31 stitches reports DNA info. A South Carolina father has been arrested and will be charged in the murder of his five children. Timothy Ray Jones Jr was arrested for drunk driving in Mississippi and awaiting extradition to South Carolina. “Deputy found what were believed to be chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine and a substance believed to be the street drug Spice, a form of synthetic marijuana, Crumpton said. A sheriff’s office investigator was called and found what appeared to be bleach, muriatic acid, blood and possible body fluids.” Details of the situation are still emerging. [ABC NEWS]
• NY Governor Andrew Cuomo had 62% of the vote to win the Democratic party’s gubernatorial primary beating Fordham University law professor Zephyr Teachout and comedian Randy Credico.

WORLD NEWS

•  Before a Sept. 18 referendum vote on independence, British Prime Minister David Cameron made a last attempt to beg Scotland not to “rip apart Britain’s “family of nations” and the 307-year-old union. Cameron has been labeled “the most unpopular Conservative leader ever among Scots.” If a vote of independence from the United Kindgdom by Scotland goes through, “Britain and Scotland would face 18 months of talks on how to carve up everything from North Sea oil and the pound to European Union membership and Britain’s main nuclear submarine base at Faslane.” [REUTERS]

BUSINESS

Some of the US biggest banks will hit with “costly new requirement aimed at reducing the risk that some financial firms.” In an effort to protect against potential losses, banks are being required to maintain or increase their capital cushions. “The Basel capital surcharge would require giant, complex banks to increase their high-quality capital by between 1 and 2.5 percentage points, calibrated to the relative riskiness of the bank as measured by a series of factors. A total of 29 global banks, including the eight U.S. firms, are required to pay the surcharge. U.S. banks now are likely to argue the Fed is putting them at a competitive disadvantage.” [WSJ]

Alibaba is going gangbusters! The most anticipated IPO of the year “has received enough orders for its record-breaking initial public offering to cover the entire deal within just two days of its launch.” It is being reported by Reuters that the “IPO would raise $21.1 billion, topping Facebook Inc’s $16 billion listing in 2012 as the largest-ever technology IPO.” [REUTERS]
