ASSAD
We hope by now you are aware & up to date re: the conflict going on in Syria and how Russia and Syrian President Assad have been getting real cozy? Well Assad, not one to send an an elaborate floral arrangement or an OMEGA Globemaster, instead payed Putin an unannounced visit to Moscow, surprise! Actually Putin, scheduled it but still; the meeting, which occurred late Tuesday was about their joint military campaign and a future political transition in Syria. Russia is ready to contribute to the fight against terrorism and to a political settlement of the conflict since 2011. Here’s the deal, Putin’s forces have been attacking the opposition units that most directly threaten Mr. Assad, while the US and Turkey, fighting ISIS and are saying Assad’s gotta go but at the end of the day they all want to rid Syria of the unrest that began in March 2011. Since Assad made his first foreign trip in four years to Moscow first and not Tehran, Iran, another Assad ally might feel some type of way. [NY TIMES]
