Turn this ship around Captain Mayer. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer might be on her last voyage at the tech company with activist investors like Starboard Value LP breathing down her neck. The company is set to layoff 15% of its staff, cut costs by more than $400 million by the end of the year, close some offices and digital magazines and considering “strategic alternatives” saying “We’re right at the beginning of what the board wants to do.” Verizon, TPG and Bain Capital Partners LLC are some of the firms considering a Yahoo deal. Mayer is one of the few female CEOs leading a tech company and with Yahoo, she has had the longest tenure since assuming the position to steer it out of its slump in 2012.
