A wisconsin jury, after deliberating for about nine hours, ruled that milwaukee gun store Badger Guns was negligent in its sale of a gun that was later used to shoot 2 milwaukee police officers leaving them injured and now they have to pay $6 million in damages. This verdict’s long-term impact could be significant because it might open the doors for a surge in new lawsuits aimed at the firearms industry and at the federal law’s exemptions. [LA TIMES]
WALMART
Yesterday stocks went topsy turvy falling by 10% and people lost a lot of money; Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc, owns 60.39 million shares of Wal-Mart, lost nearly $390 million. Walton Enterprises LLC controlled by the Walton family, though owns 1.42 billion Wal-Mart shares and they lost about $9.12 billion in one day. To add insult to injury, senior Walmart management execs expects earnings to drop over the next two years and increase just slightly in year three. [BLOOMBERG]
