CHICAGO NEWS

• Details are still emerging in the murder of Chicago resident Sheila von Wiese Mack. During what was to be an idyllic trip to Bali with her daughter, Heather Mack, she was found dead, badly beaten and stuffed in a suitcase. Her daugher Heather Mack and her boyfriend Tommy Schaefer, 21 have been arrested and detained for the murder. [CHICAGO TRIBUNE]

NATIONAL NEWS

• Tensions are rising, reaching almost boiling point in Ferguson. Since the shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Micahel Brown, which it was revealed the police heard about the shooting ON THE NEWS, protesters have clashed with armed forces, SWAT teams fired tear gas, 2 reporters arrested without charge or explanation and a new witness to the shooting has come forward. The name of the officer that fired the shot has yet to be released and a lot of unanawred questions remain. [REUTERS]
• New York senate candidate Gia Arnold has abruptly quit her campaign and it’s due to an affair. An act more akin to men in politics, 24 year-old Arnold announced in a letter on Facebook  “I participated in an extramarital affair beginning in August of this year…It was an excuse for an escape from an already declining marriage.”

• A man was shot at a peace concert, “Philly Support Philly: Peace on the Streets.” at Philadelphia’s Dell Music Center, talk about an awful irony! The 20-year-old man died Wednesday night. [PHILLY.COM]

• Chip Sarafin an offensive lineman for Arizona State University is the first Div. I college football player to come out. He announced to compete magazine that he is gay. [ESPN]
• Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner has impressed a delegation of 29 baseball team owners in his bid to be the next baseball commissioner. According to reports from Boston Globe,
The two there candidates along with Werner,being considered for the position  currently occupied by Bud Selig are: Rob Manfred, MLB’s Chief Operating Officer, and Tim Brosnan, MLB Executive Vice President of Business. [BOSTON GLOBE]

• Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie gave birth to a baby girl, Vale Guthrie Feldman. [TODAY]
• Remember pregnant dad? well, he wants a divorce from his wife, Nancy. Thomas Beatie who was born Tracy Lagondino in Hawaii and had 3 children during his transition, was granted permission to continue divorce proceedings in Arizona.
“At the time of the Beaties’ marriage in Hawaii, that state only allowed marriages between a man and a woman, and Hawaii’s legislature, like Arizona’s, had established statutory authority allowing persons who had undergone a sex change operation to apply for and obtain an amended birth certificate reflecting the appropriate gender.”[USA TODAY]

It was once one of the leading flash sale sites but as of late, not so much and that may change with a new look. Earlier this year Chicago based Groupon bought Ideeli for a reported $43 million and now they are trying to make it work. The company’s name is being changed to Ideel and will expand its offerings within home, women, shoes and men’s selections.
