On a warm evening at the Peninsula Hotel terrace, about 110 guests joined 2016 co-chairs, members of the board and executives of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, to kick off this year’s Children’s Research Fund Ball. This year, the co-chairs Ashley Hemphill Netzky and SkinnyPop co-founder Pam Netzky along with Ann Amboian, president of TRIO Foundation and Nuveen Investments former CEO John Amboian, revealed the theme for this year’s ball, “Moments: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.” The theme was chosen to reflect the 65 years that the Children’s Research Fund has been raising funds for medical research, the last 25 years at Lurie Children’s, as well as to celebrate all the moments that have been made possible through pediatric medical research.

The 2016 Children’s Ball will take place December 3 at the Hilton Chicago. Over the years, Children’s Research Fund support has led to advanced investigation in cancer, heart disease, genetics, microbiology and neonatology. Since its affiliation with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in 1991, the Children’s Research Fund has contributed nearly $67 million.
