It was a BIG night for some of Chicago’s very own including Common and Graham Moore. They both won big and even bigger with their acceptance speeches, Chicago stand UPPPP!!! Here are the Chicago faces spotted at the 87th annual Oscars. Yes Oprah calls Montecito her home now but she will forever be Chicago’s own.
Lonnie Lynn Rashid aka Common who attended with his mom, Dr. Mahalia Ann Hines, won the Oscar for Best Original Song “Glory” with label mate John Stephens aka John Legend.
Graham Moore, a UofChicago lab schools alum won for best adapt screenplay for “Imitation Game” and his speech brought even the toughest heart in that room/watching to tears, it was moving and relatable.
Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson sang during the In Memoriam portion of the show.


Other Chicagoans in attendance included Oprah Winfrey, Steadman Graham, Gina Rodriguez, Jennifer Hudson.


Although they didn’t walk the red carpet, these 2 glam squad’s behind the scenes work did grace the red carpet. Larry Sims and Law Roach both of Chicago coiffed Lupita Nyong’o and dressed Zendaya, respectively.
