FRIDAY

WHAT:: FIRST LOOK FOR CHARITY 2024

WHY:: One of Chicago’s greatest one-day fundraisers, regularly generating nearly $3million for 18 area non-profits. Guests are treated to a preview of the Chicago Auto Show, the nation’s largest auto show, before it opens to the public and an evening of delicious bites, drinks and desserts PLUS a chance to win a brand new CAR! WHAT:: CHICAGO CANINE RESCUE PUPPY SPEED DATING

WHY:: Join CCR and our adoptable puppies for a fun-filled “Speed Dating” event at Dovetail Brewery on February 9th! There will be fun photo ops for you and our puppies (like a puppy kissing booth!), drinks, raffle, and a DIY valentine station. We will even have some guest vendors like Barry Sweets, Cog Cycles and Yarn, quirky pet portraits by Waterpop, and more! WHAT:: THE 2024 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW

WHEN::  February 10-19
WHY:: The Chicago Auto Show is the nation’s largest and longest-running auto show. With more than 1 million square feet of exhibit space, visitors will find more. Exhibitions include: multiple world and North American introductions; a complete range of domestic and imported passenger cars and trucks; sport utility vehicles; and experimental or concept cars. In total, nearly 1,000 different vehicles will be on display. Additionally, attendees will also have the opportunity to see numerous accessories and auto-related exhibits, competition vehicles and project, antique and collector cars. WHAT:: THE MATCHBOX MAGIC FLUTE

WHY:: In her acclaimed signature style, Mary Zimmerman conceives a brand new theatrical adaptation of Mozart’s beloved opera.
Playful and imaginative, it’s big music in a small space. This “matchbox” presentation of The Matchbox Magic Flute features a cast of 10 and orchestra of five—following the fantastic adventures of Prince Tamino and Princess Pamina. With dragons, a man who is a bird, trials by fire and water and underground corridors, Day and Night do battle.

WHY:: Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto is a landmark of his dark and restless middle period, here featuring Seong-Jin Cho, whose 2018 Chicago debut offered “about as thrilling a display of sheer powerhouse keyboard bravura as one is ever likely to encounter” (Chicago Classical Review). Gemma New conducts the program, which closes with Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony, evoking highland mists, warring clans and long-lost folk dances.

WHY:: The Super Bowl is the annual league championship game of the National Football League of the United States. It has served as the final game of every NFL season since 1966, replacing the NFL Championship Game. This year the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers.
