Big Shoulder's Fund Auxiliary Board Ball 2014

“In the fund there is unity in community” said student Endia of Josephinum Academy to the crowd during her speech at the 8th annual Big Shoulder’s Fund Ball.

The Auxiliary Board of Big Shoulder’s Fund along with friends, students and supporters gathered Friday night(9/26) to celebrate and raise funds to continue their mission. You may have read our philanthropy spotlight, here, on the organization whose mission is to provide support to Catholic schools in the neediest areas of inner-city Chicago.

A host of Chicago’s next gen civic and philanthropic leaders were in attendance.
The VIP reception began with words from Big Shoulders energetic President & CEO Josh Hale. Big Shoulder’s Fund Founding Chairman Mr. Jim O’Connor also said a few words before passing the mic to Monsignor Kenneth Velo, co-chairman of the organization. This past spring, Monsignor Kenneth Velo and Big Shoulders raised a gargantuan $10.5 million at a single fundraising event.
Monsignor Kenneth Velo also thanked guests and supporters of the organization as well.

With Big Shoulders Fund co-chairs Analisa Auriemma and John Huber on hand, they introduced 2014 scholarship recipient Edina. A young girl who aspires to major in biochemistry in college. The once people shy student confidently addressed guests on how her education at Josephinum Academy and the community had impacted her and thankful for the scholarship.

With that guests were led up to the fourth floor of the Museum of Broadcast Communication building for food, dancing libations and networking for the evening.
