As digital media continues to move at a somewhat dizzying pace and bloggers move further into the territory once reserved for editors and celebrities, signing high level contracts, another superstar blogger has inked a large sum beauty contract.
Blogger Aimee Song of Song of Style has been announced as the newest brand ambassador to beauty brand Laura Mercier, making her its first digital influencer according to report from WWD. You might remember that Kayture’s Kristina Bazan signed a reported million dollar contract with L’Oreal last year.
The price tag of Aimee’s contract though is reported to be in the $500,000 ball park. The year long “partnership” Song told WWD “It’s the biggest deal ever — and it’s not just [the money]. It’s the deepest relationship I’ve ever had with a brand. Even though I continue to work with [many] of the same brands — it’s never been, ‘I’ll work with you for a year.’ That’s never happened to me,”
Breaking down social numbers she has 3.4 million Instagram followers, she counts 62k followers on twitter and 847,914 Facebook followers but this is not the first partnership for the blogger. She has previously worked with Macys, Dolce & Gabbana fragrances though during the course of her yearlong partnership with Laura Mercier there are a handful of competitive names she can’t work with.
Yearlong ambassadorships are the holy grail of beauty deals for influencers — with one-off and short-term partnerships being the ticket to getting there.
