Chicago’s Smyth Hosts 3-Michelin-Star Meadowood Restaurant In Culinary Tour

A highly lauded restaurant within the Meadowood Napa Valley luxury resort that faced daunting adversity in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic is going on tour and West Loop’s Smyth is set to host their Chicago stop. Three-Michelin-Star The Restaurant at Meadowood (TRAM) as its known located in St. Helena, California had recently pivoted to adjust to the lockdown restrictions and new way of dining when it was completely burned down by the Glass Incident fire in September 2020.

The show must go on as they say and Chef Christopher Kostow and his team are taking their talents on the road on an international culinary tour called “The Restaurant at…” that kicked off in NYC and will make its Chicago stop on Tuesday August 17. This rare culinary event is sure to sell out fast. Smyth‘s Chef John Shields, who has known Chef Kostow, the third-youngest chef to earn three Michelin stars, in and out of the kitchen for a long time will open up their Chicago restaurant to host the one night only event. The Restaurant At Meadowood will bring its world recognized California style cuisine to Chefs John Shields and Karen Urie Shields’ restaurant, where the “cooking style they pursue at Smyth very closely mirrors what we have long tried to do at The Restaurant at Meadowood; including the focus on their farm, an emphasis of preservation, and distillation of flavors to ensure there is nothing superfluous on the plate” says Chef Christopher Kostow.
