Beauty retailing giant Sephora, celebrated their first free standing store in the Windy city on Michigan Avenue with some pre-opening events Thursday (Aug. 25) before the store officially opened to customers Friday August 26. We got to preview the new location, Sephora’s third Beauty TIP concept in the country, August 25 and it was like inviting a kid to a party filled with all the sweets you can imagine, gimme gimme gimme!
On hand for the opening were Sephora executives and team members, including Calvin McDonald, President & CEO of SEPHORA Americas. Model Hailey Baldwin also popped into the store to do some shopping.

Sephora, under the LVMH umbrella, marks this recent opening of the 10,040 sq. ft. street-level 605 N. Michigan Avenue store as their 400th to date and one of its largest Sephora’s locations. The TIP Beauty Workshop a newer concept for the innovative beauty House, is at the “heart” of the store’s design, and an integral part of Sephora’s TIP (Teach, Inspire, Play) experience.
When guests walk into the store, they are greeted, as with other Sephora stores, by associates and familiar beauty products sectioned off by brands. As they get further into the store, you begin to see the features notable to the Michigan Avenue location including the Beauty studio which is centered in the middle of the store to serve as the place for one-on-one makeovers with Sephora experts. This new store also features the debut of Sephora’s NEW Digital Makeover Guide-an interactive face chart that records the specific service you received, combined with customized product and application tips, delivered directly to the you via email, making it the first digital take-home-tool to be offered by Sephora. The new store will also be the first to offer a completely NEW Fragrance Studio experience, featuring Fragrance IQ enhanced with the first-to-market sensory technology, InstaScent. Developed in partnership with 5th Screen Digital, and available exclusively at Sephora, InstaScent allows clients to explore 18 scent families through an innovative, dry air delivery system.
Additionally, skincare consultations will take place at The Skincare Studio. Sephora Michigan Avenue is one of the first stores to feature this new service fixture, complete with a working sink and four well-lit(you can choose the intensity of the lighting) seated stations to ease facilitation of the Sephora’s client-favorite Mini Facial service. A touchscreen station is also affixed to the area for instant access to Sephora’s exclusive Skincare IQ diagnostic, and you can save the products, email it or have it printed out for you.
Sephora Michigan Avenue will feature iconic, cult and emerging prestige beauty brands, including exclusives such as: Atelier Cologne, Belif, BITE Beauty, Black Up, Cover FX, Drunk Elephant, Erborian, IGK, Kat Von D Beauty, Madam C.J. Walker, Beauty Culture, Nest, Ouai, The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder and Too Cool For School.
