Last Thursday (8/15) JIMMY at the James Hotel Chicago celebrated its opening with an intimate screening of the new film Lovelace followed by a cocktail reception. Prior to the reception, guests took in a screening of the new film Lovelace starring Amanda Seyfried along with a lively Q&A session with screen writer Andy Bellin hosted by Kelli Zink.
At the cocktail reception following at JIMMY, guests were escorted past the soon to open David Burkes Bacon Bar through the metallic curtains to see partners Larry Poston, David Rabin and Johnny Swet mingle with guests in attendance such as Orange Skin’s Obi Nwazota, Grant Legan, Luis Gomez, Michigan Ave Magazine’s JP Anderson, Dan Uslan, Edelman’s Travis Kessel, Brian Whitely. Larry Poston noted that although he is based in NY he will frequent Chicago more and can’t wait to try all the great restaurants here.
Talk about a change for the better. Gone are the couches and elevated DJ Booth of the old J-Bar. Jimmy has been revamped as the anti rager and we love it. From the walnut wood paneled walls to the curtains and the smart dressed staff (Maria Pinto designed their outfits), this our new favorite place to go. The electic music selections sets the tone for the evening and it was just just loud enough for us to hear and still hold conversation with friends(WIN). If you are looking to entertain clients, or some fun after a big group dinner this is the place to do that. Now getting by the strict Mr. Lono Brazil on the other hand, well make sure you don’t show up sloppy. The handsome Mr Brazil was wearing a well fitting, sharp Paul Smith suit so you get the idea.
