Russia. The investigation into the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH17 revealed that the missile that downed the plane was fired from a Russian launcher in an area of Ukraine controlled by pro-Moscow rebels. The investigation noted that witness and social media evidence, along with intercepted communications, allowed investigators to track the Cold War-era Buk launcher being moved from Russia to rebel-held territory in Ukraine then back across the border after the disaster. • 50 Chicago public companies that were surveyed revealed lack of minorities among their senior leadership positions, with 19 showing no ethnic diversity within their executive ranks. African-Americans, Hispanics and Asians make up just 9% of executive positions in 2016, down from 10% in 2014. The study was commissioned by Chicago United. Speaking of privilege, a Chicago man who fired at least nine shots toward nearby buildings which resulted in SWAT response was sentenced to two years probation and a fine of $829.

• Yesterday, video of nine year old Zianna Oliphant crying during a Charlotte city council meeting went viral. Through tears she said ‘We shouldn’t have to feel like this.’ This comes amidst escalating reports of fatalities towards unarmed black men. Another incident currently developing in El Cajon, CA of an unarmed man who was allegedly acting erratically, shot by police. Serena Williams published a post on her views on the issue and why she can’t stay silent any longer.

• Elon Musk is at it again and during his highly anticipated keynote speech at the International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico yesterday he revealed his ambitious vision for manned missions to Mars that could happen in six years. A one-way ticket for the six-month trip will cost as little as $200,000.

• Celebs and spokesmodels turned out for Revlon/UCLA’s Breast cancer awareness luncheon yesterday at Chateau Marmont. Attendees included Jennifer Hudson, Halle Berry, Melanie Griffith, Rashida Jones and mom Peggy Lipton, Cindy Crawford, Ciara to name a few. The event hosted by Revlon Chairman Ronald O. Perelman and Revlon CEO Fabian Garcia, honored Dr. Dennis J. Slamon, Director of the Revlon/UCLA Women’s Cancer Research Program.

• Just Timberlake & Chill! at least that’s what the new teaser for Justin Timberlake’s upcoming Netflix concert movie wants you to do. Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids, directed by Jonathan Demme, is based on Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience world tour final concert date in Las Vegas and will be available on Netflix Oct. 12. • The last leg of fashion month, Paris Fashion Week, started yesterday. Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent’s new creative director debut his first collection for the Kering brand to some rave reviews, the YSL branded heels and party frocks were talk of social media. Jacquemus, the return of Olivier Thyskens were also major news on Day 1. This year’s fashion musical chairs means 4 new designers are presenting their first major collections for 4 big name fashion houses. Due to the time difference(+7), day 2 shows are already underway: Lanvin, Courrèges, Maison Margiela. PFW ends Wednesday Oct. 5. Speaking of fashion, Trunk club is changing things up and charging a $25 “home try on” fee.
