This weekend Bacon and Beer Classic will take place at Soldier Field. Since today is national coffee day, several area food havens are offering coffee deals. One of our favorite restaurants, David Burke’s Primehouse at the James Hotel, will be debuting their fall menu soon. Sunday guests at Logan Square’s Kultura Festival will get a look and taste of the $100 Golden Cristal Ube donuts then head over for one last drink and rooftop sesh at Citizen’s Bar before they close. • Rodell Sanders served 20 years in prison for a crime he did not commit and yesterday his attorney announced that a $15 million settlement was reached in a federal lawsuit against Chicago Heights police dept. Sanders was given 80 years sentence. Chicago Heights Deputy Police Chief Sam Mangialardi was convicted of federal charges including civil rights violations, racketeering, witness tampering, bribery and extortion.
• Following his lauded first music festival #MCD, Chancellor Bennett aka Chance the Rapper was announced yesterday as one of the performers at this year’s White House tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 1, he will be joined by Yolanda Adams, Kelly Clarkson. Free ticket lottery will begin Oct. 7
• Pundits are still digesting Monday’s debate but candidates are already back on the trail. Donald Trump announced a record $18million fundraising haul reportedly led by NY Jets owner Woody Johnson. After his comments about former Miss Universe’s weight resurfaced, they also dug up comments he made about a pregnant Kim Kardashian. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian presidential candidate who was just endorsed by Detroit News, is really making a strong case for why he should be the leader of this country oh except for the fact that he didn’t know what Aleppo was nor can he name his favorite foreign leader until his VP pick helped him out. President Obama sat down for a town hall with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
ENTERTAINMENT
• 2 highly anticipated premium network shows held their premiere parties last night. HBO’s Westworld from JJ Abrams which stars James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Rodrigo Santoro premiered at TCL Chinese Theatre. At the AMC Magic Johnson Harlem, Netflix’s Luke Cage which stars Mike Colter and Rosario Dawson held their premiere party.
• The cast of SNL were salivating over Monday’s debate and now its been announced that Alec Baldwin will appear on the show as Donald Trump. The new season will premiere Saturday Oct. 1 with Margot Robbie hosting and the Weeknd with his new haircut as musical guest.
FASHION
• Unlike her fellow musician’s failed attempt at a fashion show during NYFW, Rihanna’s FENTY collaboration with Puma was a hit during day 2 of PFW. The Fenty x Puma line dubbed Marie Antoinette at the gym featured floral prints, lingerie, lace and pink. Less athleisure and more streetwear. Also in fashion Chicagoan Virgil Abloh gave an exclusive interview to Business of Fashion (BOF) on his design aspirations.
