DOJ & BILL BARR: Last week, the US Dept. of Justice  intervened in the sentencing recommendation of Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone and US Attorney General William Barr ordered a re-examination of former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s case, prompting 4 prosecutors on the case to resign. Then a prosecutor who worked on the case and was up for nomination at the Treasury Dept, resigned after Trump pulled her nomination.  A bi-partisan petition/letter signed by over 1,100 former Justice Department officials calling for Barr’s resignation made headlines over the weekend. Today, 15-20 officers and members of the Federal Judges Association, are calling an emergency meeting to “address growing concerns” over US president Donald Trump and the Justice Department involvement in “politically sensitive cases.”….Read more


  • LOCAL/CHICAGO: Presidential candidate former NYC mayor Mike Bloomberg will be feted at an event today in Chicago hosted by Ariel Investments John Rogers and Mellody Hobson. This comes on the heels of the launch of Mike for Black America, his campaign’s outreach efforts to gain support in the African American community.
  • NATIONAL: Citing rising lawsuits from men who say they were sexually abused, The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy. According to NPR, the org’s been exploring the possibility of bankruptcy since at least December 2018, when the group hired a law firm for a possible Chapter 11 filing.
  • WORLD:  Another medical staff member of the Wuhan hospital at the epicenter of the covid-19 novel coronavirus outbreak has died Tuesday. Liu Zhiming, the director of Wuhan Wuchang Hospital, was initially reported dead Monday though officials indicated he was fighting for his life at that time. This as a British couple quarantined on the cruise liner that gave people funny updates on their day-day conditions revealed they’ve tested positive for the virus.


  • The holiday weekend box office saw Paramount’s ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ take in $70 million, the studio’s biggest domestic opening since Mission: Impossible — Fallout over 18 months ago according to Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar win for Parasite also saw it get a boost in the box office, now making over $200 million globally. 
  • Elton John will be back on the grind after a walking pneumonia diagnosis cut short his performance Sunday in Australia. He will be back on the tour schedule Tuesday in Auckland. The Elton John farewell tour will stop in Chicago for two nights June 19 and 20. 


  • The fashion industry has also been affected by the continued spread of CoVid-19 aka coronavirus. Prada’s Resort 2021 on May 21 and Chanel’s replica Métiers d’Art shows, planned for Japan and Beijing, respectively announced the shows have been postponed. This would have marked the first time to ever host a fashion show there. Chanel’s replica was set for Beijing. In other fashion news, London Fashion Week F/W ’20 is underway. Tommy Hilfiger held its show and Burberry had a star studded frow for its presentation Tuesday. Lastly, apparently there’s been a big fall out between supermodel Naomi Campbell and Vogue UK EIC Edward Enninful-drama!
