HEADLINER – Monday  March 26

March For Our Lives.  There is so much that can be said about the collective power of coming together but by the looks of Saturday’s March For Our Lives’ rally you could be rendered speechless over the fearlessness and turnout for the anti gun violence protest. Though they had help behind the scenes including $500k donations from the likes of George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw who were just some of the stars in attendance, the day of the event focus was on the youths and boy were they eloquent. From the nation’s capital to cities all across the country they came out leading a movement that really took shape after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida.  The main point of the rally was a call for gun reform though the NRA decided to mock the movement. President Trump, known to tweet through the weekend but silent over this as his motorcade allegedly took a detour to avoid rally goers in Florida on his way to Mar-a-lago….Read more

• Well well well, full page apologies in newspapers will not curb the dissent and fury over Facebook after the Cambridge Analytica expose. The company took out ads over the weekend in newspapers apologizing but now its coming out that Facebook logged texts and call history of Android users until October last year, though they are denying it.

In Chicago news: The Loyola Men’s basketball team have done something they haven’t since 1963 and that’s appear in the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament Final Four. On Saturday they once again routed another top seeded team to advance. The Ramblers beat Kansas State 78-62. Actress DuShon Monique who appears on Chicago Fire has died after a recent hospitalization for chest pains. Apple’s education themed event will take place 10am on Tuesday in Chicago at Lane Tech college prep. There’s speculation Apple will announce new products such as iPad and MacBook.

• Over The Weekend: The highly anticipated interview of Stormi Daniels, the lady who had an affair with married Donald Trump before he was president aired Sunday night on 60 Minutes. She went on the program to “set the record straight” she said and divulged a few nuggets about the affair. According to a report, immediately after the segment aired, Trump’s personal attorney sent a cease and desist letter after the interview aired. Did you also catch the 60 Minutes segment on Giannis Antetokounmpo, the  Milwaukee Bucks’ ‘The Greek Freak.’ Beyonce and Blue Ivy were spotted getting their “Stars they’re just like us” moment on as they were spotted at an LA area Target this past weekend. 

ENTERTAINMENT

• Former Shah’s of Sunset star and now beauty entrepreneur Lilly Ghalichi announced she is expecting her first child with husband Dara Mir in an instagram post.
Black Panther has cemented its place in hollywood film history. The Ryan Coogler directed Disney-Marvel flick is the top grossing superhero film in North America of all time after surpassing Marvel title The Avengers, which grossed $623.4 million in 2012. The film has shattered numerous milestones since opening in theaters on Feb. 16. Though at the box office this past weekend, newcomer Pacific Rim Uprising unseated BP as the #1 film with an estimated $23 million debut.

 

FASHION

• Rumor no more, Louis Vuitton announced who will replace Kim Jones as menswear artistic director and its none other than Chicago area native Virgil Abloh. The founder of OFF White, the super hot fashion brands that’s elevated street wear into luxury real has been tapped by LVMH to inject some new life into the brand. Abloh’s first collection is set to bow in June meanwhile he will continue designing mens and womenswear for Off White after taking up his position at Louis Vuitton. In other fashion news, JD Sports Fashion is set to acquire Finish Line for $558 million.
